Clare Reflects on Ten Years at Jubilee
Dear Friends,
As I depart and reflect on Jubilee’s past decade, my heart is filled with both sadness and gratitude. In many ways, this journey mirrored the lifecycle I experienced as a parent. After getting over the initial hump of sleeping through the night, children start to grow in leaps and bounds, causing us parents an equal measure of joy and anxiety. The next thing we know, we are sending them off to college. (Coincidentally, I’m sending my oldest to college this fall.) It wasn’t long after Jubilee launched a decade ago as a new nonprofit that community members needing immigration help found their way to us. Soon thereafter, Jubilee grew beyond our wildest dreams. We hired more staff, received new grants and moved to a bigger office space. Fast forward and here we are, four presidential administrations later.
You all have been the “village” that has helped “raise” Jubilee.
Your partnership has included:
Supporting our work through your financial giving, encouragement and prayer.
Holding out hope and courage to the Jubilee team and our clients in the face of injustice and fear.
Mentoring the next generation of young advocates and modeling compassion and resilience.
In the coming months, I will be taking some time to rest, rejuvenate and discern my next steps. Yet, the work of justice presses on. I hope you will continue to join and support Jubilee, especially in this present moment of huge challenge for our immigrant communities.
Hope to see many of you on September 12th!
With Gratitude,
Clare Crawford, Jubilee Co-founder and Former Deputy Director
