Resurrection Hope

Prayer labyrinth, symbolizing the journeys of our lives, at Iona House in Placerville, CA

This past week, Christians around the world celebrated Holy Week. The cruelty and horror of Good Friday. The dead silence of Holy Saturday. Culminating with the Resurrection on Easter Sunday, Jesus’ victory over death and evil. As a Christian, I want to believe and celebrate the newness that Resurrection brings. Yet, I also want to acknowledge that living in a post-Resurrection world can feel disorienting, when greed and ruthless power seem to be prevailing. Our immigrant communities are being torn apart, terrorized and silenced. I believe; help my unbelief.*

At Jubilee, we are holding onto goodness and justice as we tirelessly advocate for our clients. We are answering inquiries from international students whose visas have been revoked. Our team is exploring how to respond to the administration's new draconian mandate that all non-citizens “register” with the federal government. We recently learned that immigration officers are showing up unannounced at the schools, homes and attorney offices of migrant children under the pretext of conducting “wellness checks.” Our team is reaching out to our young clients to advise them of their constitutional rights.

Join us as we continue to support and uphold our immigrant communities by practicing Hope and Resurrection.
